The Psion Guild, which specialized in Psi and the differences between it and other energies, also are of the opinion that Psi and Qi are two types of energies that originate within the human body, but aren’t the same:..
A reason those sites are defunct is that a lot of the information was wrong, and site owners could not maintain it with current information because of lack of academic expertise. XIII is having a hard time editing the content to relevant material as of now, because they are having an issue with curating and writing up-to-date information, albeit he does not seriously practice anymore. To my knowledge, the people from the Psion Guild who still practice are Chaos Magicians, Heathens, Astrologers, Druids, Omnimancers, some flavor of diviners, and ceremonial magicians. Many of The Psion Guild members moved to the otherkin community. That sect of people appears to view the otherkin identities as an abstraction of psychological dysphoria, and they are very skeptical of anything paranormal. Many of them outright do not believe in psionics, anymore. Information from those sites is obsolete, which is why the sites are defunct. The Psion Guild has not been updated for nine years [as the date of this post]. Many former members will say coming up with a list of kinesis and different energy types spelled the doom of psionics, because it felt fictionalized. An example of that is the enumeration of umbrakinesis, photokinesis, geokinesis, and “faith” energy.
Psi is not a substance or even a realistic model. Psi is a denotation of influence between organisms and their environment. It is not a substance. It is a measurable attribute of correlated information and change. For example, we could verify if telepathy occurred by seeing if there are redundancies symmetrical to what the telepath perceived and the actual thought of the other person. If it was accurate, we can infer the thoughts were symmetrical. Psi is a denotation of a model to describe symmetries among organisms and their environment. If you look at it from a perspective of harmonics and differentials (Potential Theory), you can model it as energy. The key word is model. Considering psi causes changes to [the chemistry of] your brain and body to encode information about things, you can model it as a vector field that influences chemistry, so you have empirical justification for something analogous to physical currents. In that, psi is an abstraction for influence among the internal states of organisms. It is important to note that configurations of internal states are related to heat, so psi is more relevant to thermodynamics than electromagnetism. The key word is abstraction. It is a basic vector field, so there is nothing to say it is particularly tied to electromagnetism. The air and wind in a room is a vector field with air currents. Temperature is a scalar field. Psi can act on any chemistry, so it is more abstract than electromagnetism. A field just implies that for a space, we can assign some value of a variable at every point in that space.
…also are of the opinion that Psi and Qi are two types of energies that originate within the human body, but aren’t the same:…
There is no chemical basis for this. You are describing what we call an emergent property where an aggregation of something produces a property that the constituent parts do not have. 1 is odd, so it does not have a property of evenness, but if you add it with another 1 such that 1+1=2, you now have an even number. But 1 and 2 are both real numbers. In order for psi to originate or emerge from the human body, it would need to be extensional of spatial and temporal properties, but the properties that psi connotes are physically nonlocal so those properties cannot be a function of the chemistry of the human body. It is more accurate to think of it as a field of a topological structure that is “higher” than the physical body. I use the word field because for every physical point of your body, there would be some correspondence to that higher-dimensional structure…It is not emergent from my body, though. It is hard to separate energy work from an animistic perspective of spirits, since basic energy work extends the human spirit. Part of the reason psionics flopped is that they attempted to argue an inconsistent, bizarre paradigm of Chemistry with no facts that sought to separate “psi” from spirits. The irony is those that still practice from those sites practice almost wholly animistic paradigms that reject a bizarre model of Chemistry.
Consciousness is an emergent property smeared across moments of time. Our conscious experience is the edge of a system of causality. Psi is an attribute of a topological superset of time that influences the chaos inherent in biology, such that the emergent consciousness is because of that higher realm. That fits the intuition of paradigms that use astral archetypes and daemons as mediators of properties of the human psyche. What we think of as consciousness is at the edge of a causal chain. That implies that our brains are an invocation by an astral form and psi, magic, and energy manipulation are evocations by a physical body. You are calling a body that is higher than your physical body to do something since the chemistry of your physical body cannot.
[I use the terms evocation and invocation differently than occultism frequently uses these terms. In an ontological context, an invocation is an entity calling an extensional property of itself. An evocation is when an entity uses an extensional property of another entity. A higher form of an entity can invoke lower properties of itself because lower forms of itself are within its domain. Lower forms cannot invoke higher properties of itself because that is outside of its domain. A lower form can evoke its higher form and that higher form invoke the intended property. To do magic or energy work, our bodies use a higher-dimensional, topological superset, so it is not extensional of our physical bodies. That means that all forms of magic, energy work, and even psi are evocations, albeit they are not evocations in the context of ritualistic magic.]
…With Qi, I recall some people with far more experience than myself mentioning it’s possible to use Qi to create energy constructs/artificial spirits like with psi, if you were interested in that sort of thing. Hope this helps you in some way…
I have a metaphysical issue with the concept “artificial spirits”. Ontologically, if a forgery supervenes on the same thing as an original, it implies the original is identical to the forgery. If that is the case, then there is nothing meaningful about the word artificial besides it connoting a causal property of contrivance. A construct that imitates the properties of a spirit without that construct and an instance of a spirit supervening on the same properties implies the construct is an imitation extensional of that person’s spirit or soul that is not identical to what they intend it to imitate. Whether a preternatural art can create a spirit or soul is a major debate. Clay molded in the shape of a lion or a robotic lion are imitations of a lion, but they are not living lions. It is controversial to state that psi or magic can create spirits, albeit psi or magic can forge physical states because physical objects supervenes on magical or psychic ones. That is especially so in Theurgy. With psi, energy work, or magic, it is possible to manipulate the spherical harmonics of a wave function that describe particles such that it is possible for a psychic or magical construct to be indistinguishable from a hydrogen atom, because all physical properties and probabilities are within those domains. That means while magic can create “artificial” physical properties, that does not imply it can create “artificial” spirits.
My frustration with the Psion Guild was they would create bull shit chemical explanations to justify the absurd notion that organic chemistry explains how a human brain and nervous system can levitate things. A lot of the veterans will flat out tell you they made it up, the material is obsolete, or they do not believe in psionics anymore. The site has been dead for nine years [as the date of this post].
You should keep in mind literal children created and maintained those sites and that they are defunct for a reason. People should not use those sites as sources…As an adult, I view metaphysical energies as systems of variables and the relationships among those variables. With no relationships, you really have no logical, metaphysical basis. The formula determines the interaction. If you look at the Wuxing, you will see formulas of generative and destructive cycles…
